The thing I don't get...
..right, is that people seem to think that by saying "Well, at least it was better than the first two" this somehow confirms that it's a great film.
I really could go on (and on) about all things this movie, but the one thing I will say is that I think through a combination of bad writing, bad direction and bad acting (oh, and just because someone acts well in one film does not mean they act well in all films, and I will allow for some truly atrocious material that the actors were given) the film totally and untterly failed to convey why Anakin turned to the Dark Side. And this was the central narrative of the entire movie, the entire first three movies even, so if it failed to do this, in essence, it failed full stop.
Though it was very pretty. Very pretty.
Update: Hmm, the above is too strong. I meant to say that it failed to be the great movie that I guess I was hoping it was going to be. Still, I'll see it again, which is more than I can say for the first two. And if anyone asks, I think I've settled on 3 stars out of 5.
